...why I practice, why I teach and why I do what I do?

Living in NYC, I was always living that hectic lifestyle, moving mindlessly from one thing to the next. I found yoga during the darkest periods of my life at the age of 25.  I was stressed, overworked, overweight, involved with relationship drama. I never really took care of myself. I had depression and was engaging in unhealthy practices that put my body through mental and physical stress. As a result, I went into a deep sleep for five days.

I woke up and felt like I was given another chance in life. A friend took me to a hot studio in NYC and I have been hooked ever since. I knew immediately after my first class, yoga would be part of my life forever. I admit it was the physical practice that initially attracted me. I started practicing only once a week, slowly increasing to two to three times a week; eventually, it became a daily practice. Not only did I see changes in myself physically but mentally and spiritually as well. My life changed dramatically. I was eating healthier and was a healthier weight. I was more patient and grounded, less stressed and most importantly my relationships with myself and others improved. I also ditched the job and was overall happier.

I continue to practice over the years and finally took my first teacher's training in 2009. It was one of my first solo travels to Mexico with yoga to deepen my practice. The trip has connected me to some amazing humans who are now my bestest friends who have taught me to be considerate, kind, compassionate and most importantly to love, to love myself and to love others. My life opened up with yoga and I am forever grateful.

I have a passion for all things yoga. I love sharing my practice because I love sharing what I love and taking people on a journey of transformation. Yoga is a lifelong journey and a constant learning process. You will never get bored and there will always be more things to learn on and off the mat. Yoga has healed and transformed me throughout the years. I saw light at the end of the tunnel and I wish to help people navigate life and transform through yoga.

So there, that is my why… why I practice, why I teach and why I do what I do. Everyone has their own reason as to why they started yoga, whether it is physically, mentally, spiritually or simply to relieve some stress. Yoga does some amazing things - give it a go and let me know what you think!
